ANZAC Day Writing Competition 2010
The Gaythorne RSL held its inaugural ANZAC Day Essay Writing Competition for schoolchildren in the local area in 2010. Children were asked to write an essay on what ANZAC Day means to them. Winners in each prize category were Angie Hanrahan, Brianna Servos, Ashlee Lucas (St Andrew’s), Georgia King, Wesley Cheung (Prince of Peace), Quinn Berich, Rebecca Hooton (Everton Park State High) and Darby Whyte (Our Lady of Assumption). Present at the award ceremony were Michael Johnson (Federal Member for Ryan), Kate Jones (State Member for Ashgrove) Andrew Wines (Councillor for Enoggera), Brian Battersby (Councillor with Moreton Bay Regional Council) and Merv Brown (President Gaythorne RSL Sub-Branch).
