The ANZAC Day ceremony will be held in Sid Loder Park Wednesday 25 April. The form-up for the march will occur at 6.15 A.M. and the march commences 6.30 A.M. The commemorative service will commence immediately after the march.

Everton Park SHS Borneo Trip 2010

The Brisbane North District RSL in association with the Gaythorne RSL Sub-Branch are supporting the Everton Park State High School’s special expedition to Borneo 2010. Three teachers and five students have volunteered to trek through the Borneo jungle, live with the villagers and undertake a community project. They will also visit the ANZAC Sandakan Memorial and Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre.

2010 Vietnam Veterans’ Day Concert & Commemoration

Vietnam Veterans’ Day Commemorative Activities – Wednesday 18 August 2010

The Gaythorne RSL Sub-Branch will be holding a special Bandstand concert featuring Judy Stone, Jade Hurley, Lucky Starr and Denise Drysdale as advertised in the Club and the Northwest News. The show costs $20.00 and includes a light meal. Tickets are on sale at the Sub-Branch reception counter.

Tickets are limited and will sell quickly; therefore preference is being given to serving and ex-serving members of the Defence Force who are Service Members of the Gaythorne RSL. Each Service Member may also purchase a maximum of three (3) tickets for guests. Tickets not sold by Monday 9 August 2010 will then be offered to Club Members of Gaythorne RSL.

A short commemoration ceremony for Vietnam Veterans’ Day will be held prior to the concert at the war memorial in Sid Loder Park at 5.15 P.M. You are more than welcome to lay a wreath at the time should you wish to do so.

Finally, I would like to advise that the Sub-Branch is considering using email to provide information to those members who use that facility. If you have an email address and have not already provided it to the Sub-Branch, please email welfare@gaythornersl.com.au with your details.

2010 Service Members’ Get-Together

Service Members (and partners) Get-Together – Friday 6 August 2010 at 6.00 P.M.

Light refreshments and finger food will be available in the upstairs function room. The purpose of the function is to encourage a greater level of interaction and camaraderie amongst our serving and ex-serving members. It is pleasing to know that 200 new service members have recently joined the Gaythorne Sub-Branch. The new members attending the function will be presented with their RSL membership kits on the night and the Sub-Branch has also arranged for a guest speaker to attend.

We would like to receive all RSVP’s by 30 July 2010. Please phone Gaythorne RSL reception on 3355 4655 to confirm your attendance.
